Mace & Greatsword
The Barony of Mons Tonitrus cordially invites you to join us for a ONE DAY EVENT of picnicking, casual gaming, and of course FIGHTING at our legendary Mace and Greatsword Tournament!
~ Cochise College Campus on Colombo in Sierra Vista ~
~ 9am – 4pm, Saturday August 29, 2026 ~
~ FIGHTY THINGS ~
We will host our conventional tournaments:
The Mace Tournament (with a PRIZE MACE)
The Cut & Thrust Tournament (with a PRIZE LONGSWORD)
Our remaining Baron’s Cut & Thrust Champion shall be chosen from amongst the Mons participants in the Cut & Thrust Tournament. Deets below!
~ POINTY THINGS & A&S ~
Archery and Thrown Weapons will be available for a short time at the College’s Firing Range. Our Arts and Sciences Minister shall host an indoor Crafting Corner where artisans can gather, talk, and show off what they are working on.
~ LUNCHIES & DRINKIES! ~
Enjoy a picnic lunch around the eric ~ bring your own OR sign up for a $10 lunch provided by the Barony! Deets below!
Weighted shades and weighted popups are allowed. We will provide refreshing drinks such as water, ice tea, or lemonade (we ask that folks bring a personal cup or mug to drink from).
~ GAME FACE ~
If you are so inclined for friendly competition ~ we will provide (and have space for) several outdoor and indoor games for your entertainment. But no gambling allowed on site (wink!)
Feel free to bring your games and show them off to the rest!
Come frolic and play as you lounge with us on the lush lawns of Cochise College beneath leafy green trees…or chill indoors with our AC and convent indoor restrooms!
We can’t WAIT to see you there!

One-day event (no day fees)
~ Information about the optional $10 Picnic Lunch ~
Everyone (including youth) who WISH to participate in the baronial Picnic Lunch MUST sign-up online during Pre-Registration! Be sure to select your choice, between either charcuterie meats or cold fried chicken, as well!

Fees (one day only):
Adult Members: $15 Adult Members ($20 at gate)
Adult Non-Memers: $25 Adults ($30 at gate)
Youth (under 18): FREE site entry
Picnic Lunch: $10 to opt-in & choose your meat option (adult, youth, comp’d, etc.)
Pay-At-Gate: BRING CASH
*NO baronial picnic lunches will be sold at gate ~ but you may bring your own lunch to our event!

~ $10 per person for any youth or adults (including comp’d individuals) wishing to participate.

~ Answer ‘YES’ on the form when you pre-register for the event
~ For your lunch option, choose either Charceuterie Meats or Cold Fried Chicken!
Fighting
As is traditional, we will host TWO tournaments with PRIZE weapons!
The winner of the mass weapons Mace Tournament shall receive a REAL PRIZE MACE!
The winner of the Cut & Thrust Tournament shall receive a REAL PRIZE LONGSWORD!
Baron’s Cut & Thrust Champion:
Additionally, Mons shall choose their remaining fighting champion from the Longsword Tournament – the Baron’s Cut and Thrust Champions!!
MONS FIGHTERS: Come prepared to honor your Barony in battle, and claim the title of CHAMPION! You need not win the tournament to become Champion!
More Activities
The Barony will provide some casual gaming choices to participate in ~at your leisure~ throughout the day! Will you challenge your friends at chess? Learn a period style game from one of our members? Try your hand at Kubb or Lawn Jenga??
For those who play with VERY POINTY things ~ Our Archery and Thrown Weapons marshals will provide a chance for you to shoot or throw said pointy things at the College’s *NEW* indoor target range.
For our A&S lovers ~ bring an A&S you are working on and either watch the fighting outdoors or ~chill~ indoors with our A&S minister in the Crafting Corner. Show us what your project is MADE of!
Site Rules
Site Accommodations:
- ADA Parking available
- Indoor restrooms and AC
- Grassy outdoor area with shade trees
- Trash bins available and a dumpster is on site
- Popups with weights allowed
- NO Camping ~ our event is one day only
- Sierra Vista has several restaurants, grocery stores, hotels, inns, and AirBnBs in the area!
Site Rules:
- ALL attendees must show they are a member, or sign a waiver
- Popups allowed ~ Use weights ~ NO STAKING
- NO Pets (Service Animals permitted)
- Smoking in designated areas only
- College Campus: no drinking nor live fires allowed.
- No firearms permitted on site
- We have permission to bring SCA style sport equipment such as rattan, blunt-tip rapier swords, and ceremonial live steel such as what we use for court regalia
- Cochise College students with IDs may come and go at their leisure (still need to kindly check in at gate and sign a waiver) ~ please be respectful of our local campus and students!
